The Roadhouse Presents: A Tribute to the Texas Troubadours

Of all the musical regions where, American roots music has flourished, none has been as diverse, influential and deep as the Lone Star state of Texas. With musical genres that range from Texas swing, Tex-Mex, busker street blues and country western to rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelia and jazz, it helped to define American-roots music for the last century. With a unique brand of singer-songwriter that has included artists like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Joe Ely, Nanci Griffith and Jerry Jeff Walker, a new approach to the craft of the American song was innovated. In the early 70s Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson shook the country music world in Nashville and turned Austin, Texas into a new scene for American music.

Legendary songs from these troubadours who formed the Americana music will be the highlight of this show. Songs by lesser known legends like Blaze Foley and yodeler Don Walser to the icons of Texas music like Waylon, Willie, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle and Doug Sahm will be celebrated.

Our special guests will include; Rick Shea, who’s new album, Sweet Bernadine was released last year, Alice Wallace, a new singer-songwriting with a yodeling twist and a new album, and KP Hawthorn from Calico the band. The bill is rounded out by the best singer-songwriters and musicians in L.A. and Orange County Americana including Coyote Moon, Tim Tedrow, Owen Goldman, Michael Ann Azoulai, Rj Chesney, Neil Rosengarden, Levi Petree, Joel Bennett and Robbie Mangiardi, Kassidy Heal, Pam Loe, Al Bonahmme and Chad Watson.
